Iron Maiden-Twilight Zone

The huge majority of Iron Maiden's album covers have been some of the best metal album covers of all time. That includes singles as well as LPs. Sometimes on the singles artists Derek Riggs would take more chances and try out some different concepts. For Twilight Zone we see Eddie only as a ghost in the mirror. More subtle than covers like Killers and The number of the beast, but just as effective for sure.

Hanoi Rocks-Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks

I picked this one not so much for itself, but for the style it represents. That is a live picture on the cover of a studio album. Doesn't happen that often and seemed to happen more on punk albums than in metal in hard rock. Others include Soundgarden-Louder than love, Acid King-3, the Nuge did it on more than one occasion. There are others as well and a number were in the 1980's. I don't know the reasoning behind any of these covers, but for some reason someone saw a live photo as being more fitting than bringing in artist to do a drawing or painting.

Ted Nugent-Intensities in 10 cities

Seriously if a hairy, sweaty, almost naked Ted Nugent jumped into the crowd would you touch him?

The Police-Ghost in the machine

This one is very basic and a little dated yet I have always liked it. It came out around the time I was first getting into music, but I was listening to a lot of radio so I was hearing quite a bit of popular pop stuff. I like the simplicity of the design and the colors. Plus it doesn't have Sting's snooty mug on it.
