Deep Purple, Burn

Photobucket

Deep Purple made some of the most significant music in early hard rock history.

Deep Purple remains underappreciated for its role in helping provide the foundation for metal as we know it.

Deep Purple's albums include several of the best 30-some minutes of blues-based rock put to vinyl.

But Deep Purple should never, NEVER have released this album cover.

Now I think these is the same half cool/half cheesy kinda thing that made covers like In Rock and Fireball so much fun. Come Taste the Band is like that too. They seemed to like doing silly stuff with their faces.

I like the back cover with the melty faces. This record kicks ass regardless of the cover.

Hard to believe David Coverdale is involved, huh? Maybe I'm too hard on him though, because this and Come Taste the Band are good records (I don't have Stormbringer). I'm just not a fan of his work in Whitesnake so much.

Stormbringer is my least favorite of the Coverdale/Hughes-Purple albums. Come taste the band is decent, but so different because of Bolin's influence and style.
