Van Halen-s/t

A number of albums have good covers. However it's perhaps a tougher task to not only make a cover pleasing to the eye, but to also give a good idea of what the band and or the music will be like. I think the cover of Van Halen's 1978 debut does both. You have Diamond Dave looking like he's charged up, Eddie Van Halen showing confidence and that cool guitar, Alex Van Halen playing drums like a madman and Michael Anthony looking he's going to run someone through with his bass. Then throw one of the best logos of all time in the center and you have a strong cover.

This cover really gives the listener a fantastic, dramatic visual of the band when you're listening to the music. Especially back in the vinyl days.

The photos do a good job of capturing motion and the music on this album certainly moves.

Especially since this was their debut, I think it does a great job of showinf their personalities.

this one's definitely a classic...it's one of those things you're almost certain of, even from a distance

I was thinking a little bit more about this one and I wonder if it's really better than average or is it just that the music is so good that we all have fond memories associated with it.

Bob-It may guilty of being a little dated, but so are other good covers that depict a band from a very specific period like Hendrix or KISS. I still think this is a good cover because the pictures show action and a lot of confidence for a band on their debut.
